WEBINAR RECAP – COMPANIES DISRUPTING THE WORLD WE LIVE IN

Last week, irlabs hosted “Investor Day: Companies Disrupting The World We Live In”, in partnership with NEO Exchange and sponsored by Odyssey Trust Company and Generation IACP. This session was moderated by irlabs’ Principal & Co-founders, Alyssa Barry and Caroline Sawamoto, as well as Investor Relations Associate, Karryn Tapsas. Featuring presentations and Q&A with some of the most innovative public companies on our Canadian exchanges, the webinar introduced attendees to a variety of impactful companies with products, services and new inventions that are making ground-breaking achievements toward an innovative future. Joel Solomon – an impact investor, change agent and the author of 'The Clean Money Revolution' – was our keynote with the first 100 people who signed up and attended the event receiving a copy of his book. "We were excited to host this new webinar and showcase leading Canadian publicly-listed companies at the forefront of technology, health, clean energy and more!" said Caroline Sawamoto, Principal and Co-founder of irlabs. BASE CARBON (NEO: BCBN)

The first participating company to present was Base Carbon, a company providing financing solutions and development expertise to the global voluntary carbon markets. This includes reduction projects (cookstoves and water purifiers) and removal projects (reforestation, afforestation, blue carbon, biochar, etc).​ CEO Michael Costa had this to say about how Base Carbon is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Base Carbon helps its partners meet their net-zero and climate pledges through the development of carbon credits.​

  • Their projects are directly reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, positively impacting climate change, while providing economic and social benefits to the communities in which we operate.​

  • Through carbon finance, they are helping to develop innovative technologies and products that will improve our quality of life, such as biochar, which can be used to increase crop yields and sequester carbon.​

AMCOMRI ENTERTAINMENT INC. (NEO: AMEN)

The next participating company to present was Amcomri Entertainment Inc., a producer, distributor, library-owner and finance provider with over twenty years’ experience in the entertainment industry. Serving a multi-billion-dollar global video entertainment market with streaming services driving growth, Amcomri is rapidly building the global home for independent Film and TV content.​ CEO Robert Price had this to say about how Amcomri Entertainment Inc., is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Passionate about independent film and TV while providing producers with a profitable pathway through a complex global media landscape.​

  • Highly scalable, efficient, and effective business model creates value for everyone in the supply chain.

  • Released 22 movies and 100 TV shows in 2022.

 

VITALITY PRODUCTS INC. (TSXV: VPI)

Next to present was Vitality Products Inc., an award-winning, BC-based line of vitamins and supplements sold in 600 natural health stores across Canada including Whole Foods and having entered the United States in the Fall of 2022. Cheryl Grant, President & CEO, had this to say about how Vitality Products Inc. is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Vitality is focused on delivering natural health solutions that work. As a female-led business, the company has incorporated the best of ‘science and nature in its ‘land and hand’ approach to creating synergies to support the absorption of nutrients and the health of customers.​

  • Vitality is focused on women’s health as most natural health purchases are driven by women.​

  • Vitality considers its impact on people and the planet and has been recognized with 12 industry awards including Clean Choice Award and 11 alive awards for Retailer and Consumer Favourite for Best New Supplement and Women’s Product.​


BEYOND OIL LTD. (CSE: BOIL)

Next to present was Beyond Oil Ltd., a developer and manufacturer of an innovative proprietary and patented formulation which reduces the free fatty acids from cooking oil to as low as 0.1% while preserving the oil’s quality and nutritional value. ​Their unique technology and methodology integrate into customers’ existing oil filtration systems, extending the life of frying oil and reducing costs and waste.​ Dr. Tamir Gedo, CEO & Director, had this to say about how Beyond Oil Ltd. is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Our patented product extends oil to up to 14 frying days of clean oil, reducing oil consumption and costs significantly.​

  • Filtering oil daily with our product removes food debris from oil and extracts soluble liquid impurities that contribute to off-flavours and odors of used oil. This results in healthier and tastier food for customers.​

  • Reduced food oil consumption means less energy and Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (“CO2e”) emissions required for manufacturing, processing, shipping, distributing, frying, collecting and repurposing used oil. ​


IMMUTABLE HOLDINGS (NEO: HOLD)

Immutable Holdings came next, a collection of businesses within the digital assets’ ecosystem. Our mission is to build businesses and products that increase the awareness, access, and adoption of digital assets.​ CEO Jordan Fried had this to say about how Immutable Holdings is disrupting the world for the better:

We are working to demystify and democratize digital assets through:​

  • Awareness – Producing content and building educational resources​

  • Access/Adoption – Building products that provide seamless user experiences or give exposure to the emerging asset class​


INNOCAN PHARMA (CSE: INNO)

The next participating company was Innocan Pharma, a pharmaceutical company developing several patent-pending Cannabinoids Delivery Systems to enhance the potency and efficacy of cannabinoids.​​ CEO Iris Bincovich had this to say about how Innocan Pharma is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Innocan Pharma is developing injectable liposomal CBD formulations that will allow higher bioavailability of CBD and prolonged release to the bloodstream for at least 4 weeks after one administration.​ One CBD LPT injection may replace twice a day oral consumption for over 30 days​.​

  • The LPT liposomal technology is flexible​, biocompatible, biodegradable, nontoxic, prolonged exposure, loaded with pure synthetic CBD and injected subcutaneously into the body

  • The LPT delivery system aims to be the first RX CBD prolong-release drug, initially targeting companion animals followed by human applications, with two main applications being Epilepsy and pain management.

AVRICORE HEALTH INC. (TSXV: AVCR)

The next presentation came from Avricore Health Inc., whose mission is to enrich lives by making actionable health data and clinical services more accessible to everyone. Making this possible is our HealthTab™ platform, which is on track to becoming the world’s largest, most reliable POCT network in community pharmacies. CEO Hector Bremner had this to say about how Avricore Health is disrupting the world for the better:

  • We are making the screening of chronic and infectious diseases more available, which means more people will know their health risks and receive care easier, improving their health outcomes.​

  • Pharmacists can generate new revenues, create new jobs, and use HealthTab™ to make the case to regulators that they can support an expanded scope of practice, meaning a new future for graduate pharmacists.​

  • We are also providing a ground-breaking platform for research, meaning better insights for regulators, drug makers and academia trying to understand what’s happening in real-world populations.​

THE PLANTING HOPE COMPANY INC. (TSXV: MYLK)

The Planting Hope Company Inc. came next, a breakthrough plant-based food and beverage company focused on producing the world’s most nutritious and planet-friendly products, with products currently in 8,000+ grocery doors and 50,000+ total distribution points. CEO Julia Stamberger had this to say about how The Planting Hope Company Inc. is disrupting the world for the better:

MARITIME LAUNCH SERVICES (NEO: MAXQ)

The final company to present was Maritime Launch Services, an owner and operator of Spaceport Nova Scotia, Canada’s first commercial spaceport. At a time when government-owned and operated launch facilities are struggling to keep up with commercial launch needs, Spaceport Nova Scotia provides flexibility to clients at the most globally competitive site in North America, offering a wide range of inclinations highly sought after by the satellite industry. Sasha Jacob, Board Chair, had this to say about how Maritime Launch Services is disrupting the world for the better:

  • Space plays an invisible role in the everyday lives of Canadians and the impact of, and value of, space cannot be overstated. The global space economy is expected to reach $1T by 2040, or earlier. Commercial launch demand for satellites into low earth orbit is outpacing supply. Maritime Launch is responding to that incredible demand and developing North America’s first, pure-play commercial spaceport. 

  • In addition to solving some of today’s biggest challenges, the space economy is expected to grow into a multi-trillion sector, driving massive economic growth, job creation, cross-sector R&D and innovation and international exports.
